HMDC is a Government of Gujarat owned residential facility managed by GACL Foundation Trust. This is a home for orphan children (only boys) who are mentally differently abled. Government in the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment admitted these children as the police and various other child Helpline agencies etc., found them at various public places like Bus-stand, Railway Station or streets, etc. without anyone taking their care.
GACL Foundation Trust (GFT) has taken over complete operation and management of this home under Public Private Partnership (PPP) model with the Government of Gujarat. Ultimate Focus of GFT is on rehabilitation of these children through training, therapies and by providing protective, nurturing and caring environment that every children of the society should get. These efforts will help in improving their quality of life and enable them to live as independent, contributing individuals of the society.
Mission of HMDC is to meet the needs of Mentally Differently Abled Children identified at risk or suffering from abandonment, abuse and/or neglected.
The main objective of this children home is to engage the children in different activities and through the activities try to develop their mental and physical growth. We provide vocational & educational trainings and medical treatment facility to the children. We conduct activities such as art and crafts, sports activities, yoga, etc. HMDC children make Rakhi, Diyas, Toran and paper bags & clothe bags under vocational activities. We sell these products through exhibitions and stalls. We take care of their health by conducting regular basis medical camps and health checkups. Rehabilitation with family is one of the focus tasks in HMDC. Till now 27 children have been successfully rehabilitated with family.
