GACL Foundation Trust has implemented the Nutrition Vegetable Garden project in Dahod District. This initiative helped in the improvement of Human Development Index (HDI) in the Aspirational District of Dahod. Under this initiative beneficiaries cultivated three-tier creeper vegetables and consumed the nutritional vegetables in a regular diet, which improved the health of the beneficiaries as well as their family members. Moreover, they sold the additional vegetables in the market and got additional income as a result of this project. Danta and Poshina talukas of Banaskantha and Sabarkantha Districts of Gujarat are economically less developed talukas. Tribal population in both the talukas live in extreme poverty. Land holding is less and most of families depending on rain fed agriculture. Irrigation facilities are limited. Malnourishment is one of the health issues and it is prevailing among children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers. Nutrition has been always remained one of focus intervention areas of GACL Foundation Trust. Therefore, GACL Foundation Trust in partnership with Janpath NGO began the project of nutrition in Danta and Poshina talukas with an aim to reduce malnutrition. TB is a bacterial infection that mainly affects the lungs and can also affect any other part of the body. Honourable Prime Minister of India launched “Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” to accelerate community support for achieving goal of “TB Free India”. GACL Foundation Trust has joined this initiative and supported to providing nutrition dry ration kits to the patients in collaboration with health department of Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Menstruation is a normal biological phenomenon which starts in adolescence and lasts until menopause, is a normal and vital aspect of a woman’s reproductive cycle. However, there are various socio-cultural and infrastructural limitations that limit the ability of girls and women to practice safe and effective menstrual hygiene management. Despite being universal, menstruation cleanliness and good management are often underestimated, which causes several problems for women & girls around the world. Ignoring menstruation hygiene has serious repercussions that can affect mental and reproductive health. GACL Foundation Trust observed that in rural areas there was a need of awareness on menstrual health & hygiene management. Thus, GACL Foundation Trust initiated the MHM project in 56 villages of Vadodara and Bharuch District. Under this project awareness sessions were conducted with adolescent girls and women through use of innovative and interesting methods of session delivery. There was no cancer radiation treatment facility to treat cancer patients in Bharuch District. Patients had to go to Vadodara, Surat or Ahmedabad for surgery and radiation. Considering this need, Smt. Jayaben Mody Hospital started OPD, Operation, and Chemo Therapy for cancer patients. However, due to lack of radiation treatment facility patients had to face many hardships, therefore Smt. Jayaben Mody Hospital envisaged to establish cancer radiation center to provide comprehensive oncological services to the community at large. The cancer center provides a multitude of holistic cancer care services to the patients. GACL Foundation Trust is carrying out various CSR activities in the areas including Public Healthcare. GACL Foundation Trust provided financial contribution to Smt. Jayaben Modi Hospital, managed by Ankleshwar Industrial Development Society to establish Cancer Radiation Center. Sir Sayajirao General Hospital (S.S.G.H), Vadodara is managed by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat. It caters to the primary, secondary and tertiary health care needs of the people of central Gujarat and adjoining states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan & Maharashtra. It also participates in various community outreach and national health programs.
Department of E.N.T. and Head-Neck Surgery of S.S.G, Vadodara caters to more then 50 thousand patients yearly. E.N.T. and Head-Neck surgery department received many complaints about dysphagia (not being able to swallow food/ water). Most of these patients are even not able to open their mouths and a majority of geriatric patients with these symptoms have Pre-Cancerous / Cancerous conditions of the food pipe. Considering the need of S.S.G. Hospital Vadodara, GACL Foundation Trust supported them by providing Flexible Transnasal Esophagoscopy Systerm with Narrow Band Imaging which was helpful for early diagnosis/management of these patients. Sri Sayajibaug Zoo, Vadodara popularly known as the Baroda Zoo is one amongst the oldest Zoos in the Country established by the visionary ruler of the Erstwhile Baroda State, H. H. Shrimant Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in the year 1879. Sri Sayajibaug Zoo, VMC, Vadodara has constructed a NEW ZOO VETERINARY HOSPITAL as per the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) guidelines with an objective to provide better health care facility to zoo animals. Zoo animals are our National Property and getting better housing, upkeep and healthcare facility at any zoo is their Fundamental Rights.
GACL Foundation Trust (GFT) supported Sri Sayajibaug Zoo, VMC, Vadodara for strengthening the Veterinary Infrastructure Facility by providing Diagnostic Kits and Equipment for their New Zoo Veterinary Hospital. GFT provided diagnostic kits and equipments such as OT table, Mobile LED light, Hematology Analyzer, Bio-Chemistry Analyzer, Binocular Light Microscope, Auto scope, Auto Clave Vertical, Post Mortem Set, Deep Freezer and Tranquilizing Gun with Accessories. Vadodara Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VSPCA) is established to take care of animals and birds that were forsaken without shelter and proper treatment. VSPCA located at Chapad Village of Vadodara District has been working for the rescue and treatment of sick, disabled, and abandoned animals since 32 years. They wanted to strengthen their rescue facility so that they can reach the maximum number of needy animals from different parts Vadodara District. The importance of good health in a person’s life is undoubtedly great. Good health is central to human happiness and well-being. It contributes significantly to prosperity and wealth and even economic progress, as healthy populations are more productive and live longer. For a healthy life, regular health check-up is essential. Regular medical check-ups enable doctors to detect symptoms of diseases that patients may be unaware of. Considering community health in priority GACL Foundation Trust organized 6 medical health check-up camps in different villages of Vagra Taluka, Bharuch District.
